A few months back the Chinese government had indicated that, it would eliminate or shut-down out-dated machinery and technology, to increase productivity, save energy, reduce pollution and in the process up-grade industry.
The state council has once again reiterated the commitment in sectors which include segments amongst the textile sector like dyeing and printing. Many of the fabric processing units are polluting in nature and also are energy guzzlers.
The country will eliminate by the end of 2010 more than 50 million kilowatts of small coal-fired power generators in a bid to reduce industrial pollution and also permanently close-down outdated machinery and technology in the textile industry.
