The Federation of Handicraft Association of Nepal (FHAN) said that, the overseas sales of non-textile handicraft products improved by just 0.19 percent, whereas that of textile fell by 18.74 percent. Also, as per FHAN's last seven month's data, exports of the overall Nepali handicraft products also fell by 11.48 percent, as compared to last year.

Among the textile products, allo, dhaka, Pashmina, hemp and silk, and other various textile products witnessed a huge fall in their exports. Similar was the case with non-textile products such as, metal craft, woodcraft, horn products, incense, thanka, plastic items, beads, and bamboo.

However, in the last seven months, shipments of Pashmina goods plummeted by 33.97 percent as compared to last year. So the overall contribution of textile products to the country's total exports was 56.59 percent. The overseas sale of handicraft products during the first seven months of 2009-10 was Rs 1.637 billion, a loss when compared to Rs 1.849 billion figure of last year.
