CITI to host North-South Textile Summit in May

Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI), the apex chamber for the entire value chain of the textile and clothing Industry of India is organizing the first North-South Textile Summit on May 19-20, 2010 at Hotel Trident in Mumbai.

The Summit is supported by allied industry associations and Councils of the textile sector in India. The North -South Textile Summit will be a unique forum where the leading producers, buyers and suppliers of yarn, fabrics, garments and accessories, home textiles and machinery from across the world congregate to explore potential areas of business co operation and matchmaking possibilities.

On the agenda are discussions and brainstorming on; sourcing, compliance, consumer demand, fashion trend forecasting, comparative advantage of countries in T&C sector and trends in technology in spinning, weaving, processing and garmenting.

Around 200 leading textile & clothing manufacturers from India, along with industry delegates from Turkey, Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan,
Japan, USA and EU are expected to participate. Global retail majors are being invited to make presentations to share their perspectives of T&C retail.

"Partnership" is the buzzword of relationships during the period of uncertainty. The Summit will be an important opportunity to build committed, reliable relationships between businesses. The summit will establish a blue print for a successful partnership model in textile and clothing business, both in production and marketing.

Speakers in the various sessions will include senior industry players from all over the world and major sourcing organizations from importing countries. Industry leaders from India will also address the summit.
