ITTA, Indian Technical Textile Association was formerly inaugurated by Mr A B Joshi, Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles - Govt of India.

ITTA is expected to play the role of catalyst for the growth of the Technical Textile Industry in India – in a manner similar to the role played by Nasscom for the IT sector.

Technical Textiles offers a huge opportunity in India for both local consumption as well for exports. Based on current usage patterns the Domestic Consumption market alone is expected to exceed US $ 13 billion by 2012/13. (Rs 62000 crores).

To facilitate the growth of this industry in India- the office of TEXTILE COMMISIONER MINISTRY OF TEXTILES, Government of India - recognized the need to have the industry's active participation to bring out the issues, concerns and suggest policy framework that would lay the foundation for this sector.

This has lead to the formation of ITTA- an Industry think tank-whose objective is to help facilitate the usage and production of technical textiles in India and thereby helping the industry to grow both internally as well as to become a key player in the international market.

Given the fact that Government policy have played a critical role in the advancement of Technical textiles – ITTA is expected to maintain close interaction with Government of India in formulating a National Technical Textiles Policy focusing on removing the ambiquities in the system which are hampering the growth of the sector, helping bring in legislation which will help spur usage in India and recommending fiscal and non fiscal norms which would aid the industry to achieve its true potential.

ITTA aims to become the premier organization that represents and sets the tone for public policy for the Indian Technical Textiles Industry by becoming “ITS SINGULAR VOICE” and bringing together all the components of the sector under one roof.

ITTA would become an Ideal Forum for overseas and domestic companies to explore the vast potential available for JV/Strategic Alliances/Marketing alliances, Joint Product Development etc by organizing business meets with delegates from various countries.

ITTA would disseminate various policies, market information and relevant statistics to its members.

The members at their inaugural meeting have appointed the following office bearers:
Mr ArunBhai Jariwala Chairman
Mr Mukesh Vijaywargi – Vice Chairman
Dr Chandan Gokhale – Treasurer
Mr Amit Agarwal – Hon Secretary
Mr. N T Rao – Jt. Secretary.

During his welcoming speech Shri Arunbhai Jariwala laid down the priority tasks for the young association – of getting membership and spreading awareness .He also mentioned that in addition to the Central govt , many state Govts have come forward to offer special incentives to attract Technical textiles industries in their regions. He also mentioned that given the special nature of Tech textiles - ITTAis expected to become the Export Promotion Council for the segment.
