Raid Sierras is repetition of Buff Thermo Cool team's victory

The Thermo Cool sponsored Extreme Raid team celebrated their triumph over the fourth edition of the Adventure Raid Sierras Subbéticas. The team finished at 1st position after an exhausting race and a tough fighting against time and altitudes of above 1300 meters. Team members Fran López Costoya, Albert Roca and Juan José Sanscomed had to complete several disciplines such as orientation, trekking, mountain biking, walking, archery, climbing and bike & run through the beautiful Andalusian landscapes.

The team has raced for 1st place in a 140 km course, in a competition that became one of the special expedition races in Spain. The 4th edition of Raid Sierras Subbéticas started with the first discipline of orientation on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. from the town of Cabra. The teams were grouped in Elite and Adventure categories. Competing in the Elite Category, the Buff Thermo Cool Raid Team successfully finished the competition on Sunday afternoon with remarkable 110 points within 14 hours and 44 minutes.

Fran López Costoya commented: “We experienced the toughest section in San Juan during the night. The decrease of temperature and rising of the river made us athletes suffer a lot. The immense rain that fell in the early hours seriously made the passage impossible to cross. Therefore we are really happy that, despite this, we were able to repeat our triumph here in Andalusia.”
