Textile ministry calls for meeting to resolve impasse

To deal with the country's yarn crisis, the federal government has called for a stakeholders meet today. Textile Minister, Rana Farooq Saeed will be addressing the meet.

Garment producers have urged the government to immediately ban the overseas sales of cotton yarn. More so, as fifty percent of the factory's production has come to a standstill due to unavailability of cotton yarn, the sectors adding value in the textile sector have written a letter to the government, requesting for an early action.

While textiles spinning mill owners are unhappy with the proposal to restrict or impose regulatory duties on yarn exports, garment factory owner's claim, that if the raw material is allowed to be exported further, thousands of labourers will lose their jobs.
