High quality and eco-friendly textiles are the highest requirement to be complied with; otherwise the industry might not be able to meet the challenge. This key point was presented by Mr. Adrian Meili, Manager Industrial & Institute Service, TESTEX AG, Swiss Textile Testing Institute, Switzerland, in a presentation entitled “Certifica-tion Oeko-Tex, Support Company's competitiveness”.

He pointed out that Oeko-Tex certification could provide and cover most global standards for high quality and eco-friendly textiles. Mr. Meili also shared Oeko-Tex New Criteria 2010, the most recent regulation covered by Oeko-Tex and answered all ques-tions from certificate holders and potentially certified companies regarding buyers' demand. Furthermore he also mentioned the advantages of Oeko-Tex Standard 1000 (environmentally friendly production) and its increasing demand and awareness worldwide. Completing this seminar, Mr. Kurnia Saputra, Director of Indonesian Garment Partnership, presented “Customer Behavior Changes” to ensure that the textile industry is completely and well informed of global demand and customer needs.

The seminar was successfully attended by 130 participants from the textile industry, the asso-ciation, universities, the Indonesian Trade Ministry and included professionals from textile enterprises and major buyer representatives from companies such as NIKE Inc., C&A, Adidas, St. Oliver, and IKEA.

The whole audience was actively interested in the information. They asked many questions in timed sessions and also filled out questionnaires, which shows the high interest to propose and apply Oeko-Tex Stan-dard 100 certification for their products. During lunch break and coffee break, the opportunity to exchange information was provided with networking session, to create the maximum possible potential market op-portunities for all participants. Eventually all the information given is expected to encourage the Indonesian textile industry to be ready for the Free Trade Agreement ASEAN-China and for global demand.
