Colman and Company an online supplier for the apparel decorating industry has discovered the answer for custom small order patches, badges and emblems. The company is now offering “Patch Kits” that contains everything you need to create patches, badges, and emblems for any application that is ordered in small quantities of 50 pieces or under. There is no need to turn away small patch jobs.

The Patch Kit includes one yard of white or black patch material, one yard of heat seal material, a hot knife and universal cutting tip. The patch material's topside resembles a stitched fill embroidery pattern which saves embroidery time when making patches. It is available in 12 colors and can also be used for appliqué.

The process takes just several steps. First the embroidery design needs to have a satin stitch border. The patch material will be the background color – no need to add a background fill stitch.

After embroidering the design apply the heat seal material to the backside using an iron or heat press. Trim the patch material near the patch edge leaving a quarter of an inch of material outside of the satin stitch border. Place the patch face-up on a smooth glass surface. Take the hot knife and place it along the outer edge of the satin stitch to cut and seal the edges of the patch. The finished patch/badge can be applied directly to garment with heat or sewn on.

Colman and Co. is a full-service online supplier of thread, embroidery supplies, DTG supplies, rhinestones and applicators for the avid apparel decorator. They also offer a Member Rewards Program that gives money back in the form of "points", which can be used to pay for future orders.
