All Pakistan Textile Mills Association's (APTMA) decision to close spinning mills on Tuesday and Wednesday has been rejected by the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMEA) North Zone, saying this two-day closure will generate financial issues and create more problems for the spinning sector.

Such a two-day closure of spinning mills will leave a million of workers without job and will also impact Pakistani exports drastically, said Mian Naeem Ahmad, Vice Chairman PHMEA North Zone. He advised APTMA to force the government to take steps against yarn crisis instead of closing mills, as yarn crisis have brought the industry to the verge of extinction.

Moreover, he asked to ban yarn exports completely and stressed that, raw cotton should be made available in the domestic market so that the local textile industry and the exporters of the country could meet foreign commitments along with bringing in foreign exchange, added Ahmad.
