As of the end of April, cumulative sales rate of national seed cotton (representing the proportion of harvested cotton) was 99.4 percent, up 0.1 percent year on year, according to statistics of the Monitoring System of National Cotton Market.

Of which, sales rate in the mainland was 99 percent, rising by 0.6 percent year on year, sales in Xinjiang have already concluded. Lint processing rate of cotton processing enterprises (representing the proportion of cotton acquisition) was 98 percent, up 0.8 percent year on year, while lint sales rate (the proportion of total processed cotton) was 75.7 percent, an increase of 24.8 percent year on year.

Spring sowing of cotton spread gradually around the country in April. Spring cotton planting was generally delayed by about 10-15 days due to low-temperature in most parts of the Yellow River, Yangtze River Basin and north Xinjiang region, therefore, the time for new cotton to arrive in the market is expected to be relevantly late this year.
