Downlite, a local bedding goods producing company intends to improve its production potential with 'an additional multifaceted project' in Phoenix, Arizona. Construction for this project has recently been started, which is expected to come to an end by the month of November this year.

This project will offer growth and opportunity to Downlite and will also provide it better distribution prospects and larger production capacity, said Frank Carella, VP of operations. The company supplies down-filled comforters and pillows and during the past decade it has also endeavoured to establish itself as a major supplier of core synthetic and premium down alternative fills.

With expansion in the West Coast, the company will become a complete service provider to the customers. COO of the company, Marvin Werthaiser said that, consumers of the company demanded diversification of the company's expertise from down to synthetics to supplying utility bedding at a major scale.

The synthetic business of the company has witnessed unprecedented growth, informed the COO. The company has a feather and down processing plant at its headquarters, along with a basic bedding producing operation.

In 2007, Downlite acquired Middletown, an Indiana-based facility from West Point, and developed it further to drive its access into the market of synthetic pillows. Subsequently, in the year 2010, the company transferred all its Primaloft polyester production lines of Albany, New York, to Middleton, Indiana, jointly with Albany International.

Under a licensing agreement with Albany, Downlite now produces a variety of bedding items and markets them to world's high-end retailers.
