The Vernissage will take place at the Textilemuseum of Borås on June 5th, 13:00. The exhibition will last until September 5th. Integrity presents ideas for new areas of application for ”smart textiles”. The ideas are the result of a project at the Swedish School of Textiles with 12 students from the master courses in design and textile technology/management. They travelled to different places around the world to study and develop ideas for future smart textiles.
The students were divided into three groups that went to the polluted shanty towns of Kampala, to Svalbard with its extreme climate and to the densely populated Tokyo city. Using these widly different settings as a starting point, each group worked with a different focus:
- Nature (pollution and integrity)
- Creature (comfort and integrity)
- Culture (metropolis and integrity)
The common theme was personal integrity in relation to the environment combined with the ambition to unite artistic and scientific perspectives. The students worked interactively in each environment to transform their ideas into the physical objects shown in the exhibition – for instance, objects that can be worn or used as architectural elements.
