The stupendous growth in clothing exports in 2010, is also giving rise to imports of raw materials to feed the burgeoning apparel manufacturing export sector.
Fabric imports amounted to more than US $1 million in the first quarter of 2010, which is up by 19.26 percent year on year, with imports in March alone, totaling to $415.4 million.
From amongst countries, from where fabrics were imported, China accounted for $376.1 million or 37.6 percent of all fabric imports. Those from South Korea reached $227 million and Taiwan $179.4 million.
