Once, Qadirpur Gas Fields completes its yearly turnaround, the Managing Director of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) has promised to bring an end to the weekly one day gas holiday. This has been duly welcomed by Gohar Ejaz, Chairman, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA).

Ejaz had conducted meetings with SNGPL to inform them about the industry's concerns regarding cut in gas supplies to the textile industry, owing to maintenance work carried out at Zamzama Gas Field from June 8 – 17, 2010.

According to Ejaz, SNGPL management has agreed upon lessening and revising the gas supply cut-off for one day in each zone or region.

Currently, SNGPL has reduced the number of days from four to three for every zone. As per this new arrangement, gas cut-off in Zone-1 will be carried out on June 8, 9 and 15; in Zone-2, June 7, 8 and 15; in Zone-3, June 9, 10 and 16 and finally in Zone-4 its June 10, 11 and 17, 2010.

Owing to the ongoing energy crunch, the textile industry had already faced many losses, averred Ejaz. SNGPL's move to understand the textile industry's problems and their decision to end the weekly-one-day gas holiday was well appreciated by Ejaz.
