Amicor Breathe fibers helps drive away asthma

Research and scientific studies have proved that 70% of all asthma cases can be attributed to Der P1 allergen contained in the excrement of House Dust Mites (HDM). Dust Mites are microscopic organisms which thrive in dark, warm and humid environment.

There are up to 2 million dust mites festering in an average bed. We slough off dead skin cells while we sleep which get deposited on bed and beddings. Human Perspiration and Warm, Humid conditions create the ideal environment for the growth of fungi. Fungi transform dead skin cells into soft, edible and more nutritious food source for dust mites, allowing them to thrive and proliferate.

Dust mites leave microscopic droppings which dry up, get air-borne with time and passes through textiles and beddings. We inhale this during sleep and with continuous exposure we get sensitized to these allergens which trigger asthma attack. Dust mites are now more prolific than ever. Children are particularly sensitive to this problem. Asthma generally appears in the first eighteen months of life, precisely due to the presence of DER P1.

Amicor® Breathe uses a unique technology developed to combat the threat of dust mites. In the past, the usual way to control dust mites was either by containment using barrier fabrics or killing them with powerful acaracides (insecticides).

But Amicor® Breathe does not kill mites. It prevents the house dust mites from living inside textiles, simply by taking away the food source. It simply breaks the life cycle of the mites. Amicor® Breathe fibers have locked-in antifungal properties. The special additives inside the fiber kill and inhibit growth of fungi and thus prevent skin flakes to get transformed into nutritious food source for mites.

Amicor® Breathe is a gentle but thorough solution to the dust mite problem and can be blended into mattress, duvet and pillow fillings, mattress covers, sheets and pillow cases, creating a healthy sanctuary from allergens night after night.

Over the years, Amicor® has been a leader in bio-active textiles and has already established itself in the home-textile sector specifically for bed and bedding. Amicor® is found in a number of leading brands and they have also collaborated with a number of retailers who are successfully delivering Amicor® branded beddings products to household, hospital and hotel sectors.

About Amicor® Technology -
Amicor® uses the “Late Injection Technology” wherein the functional additives are incorporated into the fiber structure thus making these durable and long-lasting. Tests have shown that Amicor® fibers retain the antimicrobial performance even after 200 hospital washing cycles.

This is roughly equivalent to the expected life of most fabrics. Amicor® fiber is available in both tow and staple form in a wide range of deniers (1.3 DTex to 17 DTex) and can be blended with any fiber to make a large range of functional blended yarns.
