The strike call given by the weavers of Narsinghdi entered its 10th day today, without any end result in sight. The strike call was given by the Narsinghdi Textile Workers' Federation on July 13.
The weavers are demanding improved employment conditions for which they have put up a 13-point charter of demands which includes a 20 percent hike in wages and provision of permanent employment.
There are over 25,000 looms in the Narsinghdi textile cluster which have gone silent since the indefinite strike call was given by the workers federation.
