The ninth annual INDA Award for Lifetime Technical Achievement will be presented to industry veteran Terry Young, of the Procter & Gamble Company, while the coveted Lifetime Service Award will be given to Jay Forcucci, of Nanostatics Corporation, at the inaugural Research, Innovation & Science for Engineered Fabrics (RISE) Conference, September 20-23 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Both men are being recognized by their peers in the nonwovens industry for their service and technical expertise throughout their long careers.

“Terry Young has played an important role in the technical development of modern baby diapers and the nonwovens that the industry uses to make them throughout his impressive career and he richly deserves this recognition from the nonwovens technical community,” says Rory Holmes, President of INDA, Association of the Nonwoven Fabrics Industry.

“Jay Forcucci has contributed greatly to the industry as a whole and INDA in particular by helping the industry and association grow throughout his distinguished career,” Holmes adds. “Jay has been vital in organizing our Filtration events and reaching out to a broader group of participants.”

Young is currently a Research Fellow at the Procter & Gamble Company, Cincinnati, OH. Young graduated from the University of Missouri–Rolla with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1973, and immediately joined P&G in the Paper Division.

Among Young's professional achievements is the development of new nonwoven uses in baby and feminine hygiene products, home care products and paper products, as well as process improvements and discoveries along the way in those areas. He led the conversion of topsheet from rayon and PET fibers to polypropylene fiber-based coverstocks in the 1980s and between 1988 and 1992 he expanded this concept with “quilted” embossing patterns for topsheet to emphasize softness besides dryness benefits.

Young has fourteen technical patents allowed and an equal number in application. In addition, has been involved with INDA and its members for over 35 years.

Forcucci is currently VP-business development at Nanostatics Corporation, Circleville, OH. He has a BS in Chemical Engineering and MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Before joining Nanostatics he worked with Filtration Group, Hoechst/BBA Fiberweb, Lydall Technical Papers, ETL Texting Labs and Pall Corp.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Forcucci has been active in a number of INDA committees, including serving as co-chairperson of the Filtration Conference since 2009. He is also a member of the INDA International Trade Advisory Board.
