Craft exporters foresee robust sales growth

The craft gift suppliers of Vietnam are getting prepared for extraordinary sales growth for the rest of the year, after conquering tough export conditions last year, informed Kearny Alliance, which is a US-based non-profit organization that offers help to businesses in developing countries.
Vietnamese craft gift suppliers are optimistic about sizeable demand growth due to the signs of improvement shown by major export markets, said Vu Ngoc Khiem, Program Manager of the Developing Country Export Assistance Program.
Around 90 percent suppliers expect at least 10 percent growth in export sales over the next 12 months and almost 60 percent of these suppliers will target EU market, revealed a survey conducted by the Kearny Alliance.
Over 70 percent of craft gift manufacturers have tagged their products with low prices to attract buyers from around the world. These suppliers have made a blend of several locally available materials to offer a dissimilar look to their products.
In a bid to cut down labour costs, Ngoc Dong Ha Nam Company has set its target on pressed bamboo by using semi-automatic machines and has blended bamboo with woven rattan to produce crafts with unique designs, said Nguyen Huy Thong, sales manager of the company.
Export price of these items ranges from less than US 30 cents to above $20 as per the type of material and design of the product, revealed the survey. Around 56 percent of the featured suppliers will introduce new models in coming months. Overall capacity of these suppliers is 820,000 pieces per month and 50 percent of this volume is exported to overseas markets, showed the survey.
These products include crafts, gifts and novelties made of wood, bamboo, ceramic, glass, metal, fabric, plastic.
