In the Asian markets, benzene surged by US $33 / ton from the previous trading day to close at $883-886/ ton (FOB Korea). In the Chinese domestic market too, benzene prices rose on Wednesday.
South China branch of Sinopec Corp, which includes Guangzhou Petrochemical and Maoming Petrochemical increased price of benzene by 200 Yuan/ ton to 6900 Yuan / ton (ex-factory).
The market price in East China ranged between 6600-6700 Yuan / ton, in South China it stood at around 6600-6700 Yuan / ton and in North China it was assessed at 6600-6700 Yuan / ton.
Prices of benzene in the Chinese domestic market have risen higher due to sharp increase of oil prices and offers for foreign supplies. Market participants expect that short-term conditions will continue to be firm.
