Probe reveals high level of formaldehyde in fox fur

Recently, the Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in Huizhou City, China inspected some samples of fur materials imported by a local company for production of fur garments. One batch of fox fur was found exceeding in formaldehyde content, after special tests conducted by the laboratory accredited by the state.
The formaldehyde content of the imported fur is 583.3mg/kg, while the national standard provides a maximum limit value of 300mg/kg. Investigation has revealed that, 48 pieces of fox fur had been imported by the company to make fur garment samples for a new order.
Currently, the company has returned the problem "fox fur" back to the supplier and has signed a new contract with the supplier and increased testing requirements on formaldehyde, pH, azo dyes and other toxic substances to ensure the same is not repeated again.
