Chief Executive Officer of handicrafts centre; Dits Wear, Love Attah has appealed young women to acquire skills require to make handicrafts, which could help them to be economically independent and responsible wives and citizens in future.
Madam Attah was speaking during the graduation ceremony of nine young women, who have completed training, in beads making and batik, tie and dye, conducted for eight weeks. An exhibition was held to showcase beads and batik, tie and dye manufactured at the Centre.
In order to gain financial independence, it is essential for women to grab every available opportunity, opined Madam Attah, who urged girls in the Ho Municipality area to acquire skills in handicrafts. These girls earn through the sale of fresh maize and groundnut. But, as this is a seasonal business, it could not be sustained for long, she added.
Therefore, for being financially independent, these girls need to acquire skills in handicrafts, which is one of the oldest and noble professions, stated Madam Attah.
