Orissa Government recently has inked a MoU with Artisans' Micro Finance Private Limited (AMFPL). Handloom and Textiles Department, on behalf of the State Government inked this MoU with AMFPL, at the State Secretariat.
The MoU reads that, AMFPL would set up a community owned company (COC) to take care of promotion of handicraft products produced by local artisans. Over and above this the COC would also work to generate more opportunities for artisans so that they can engage themselves in developing handcraft to make more money.
Working capital for the purpose will also be provided to the artisans by COC. COC would exercise a check on the quality of the products, and would also fix the rates for these products.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Handloom and Textiles Minister Anjali Behera, Chief Secretary TK Mishra, ADC RN Senapati and Principal Secretary to CM BK Patnaik were present at the signing of MoU.
