A 22.90 percent rise has been recorded in the country's textile exports in the first month of the new fiscal as over the corresponding period last fiscal.
Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) data reveals that, textile exports surged to $985.858 million during July 2010, against $802.139 million during July 2009. As per the data, July 2010 exports grew by 6.94 percent over previous month's $921.858 million.
For the period under consideration, cotton fabric exports depicted a rise of 42.06 percent year-on year, while exports of yarn other than cotton yarn, hiked by 0.51 percent, knitwear by 13.20 percent and bed wear by 21.99 percent.
Among other cotton products that recorded depicted a rise were towels which grew by 17.48 percent, tents, canvas and tarpaulin by 40.48 percent, readymade garments by 32.69 percent, art, silk and synthetic textile by 40.39 percent, made-up articles, excluding towels and bed wear by 2.1 percent and other textile materials with a 58.27 percent hike, all year-on-year.
While, the textile products that depicted a fall include, raw cotton with a 78.33 percent decline in exports, cotton yarn with 1.70 percent and carded or combed cotton with 87.76 percent fall.
