Details on Jute Parks

Under the Jute Technology Mission, Government has a scheme for establishing Jute Parks. 9 Jute Parks have been sanctioned. The details of jute parks sanctioned and their locations are given below:-

2. Murshidabad Jute Park, Infrastructure Ltd. Rezinagar, Murshidabad, W.B.
3. Shaktigarh Jute Park Infrastructures Limited. Shaktigarh, Dist. Burdwan, W.B.
4. HMC Jute Park Enterprises Ltd. Panchla, Howrah, W.B.
5. Sikaria Jute Park Pvt. Ltd. Makdampur & Bilaspur Mouza, Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur, W.B.
6. Punrasar Jute Park Ltd. Purnea, Bihar
7. West Bengal Multifibre Pvt. Ltd. (Beldanga) Beldanga, Murshidabad, W.B.
8. Dibru Jute Park. Dibrugarh, Assam NER
9. Silchar Jute Park. Silchar, Cachar Dist., Assam. NER

This information was given by the Minister of State for Textiles, Smt. Panabaaka Lakshmi in a written reply in the Lok Sabha to a question raised by Shri Rakesh Sachan.

The Minister further stated that the subsidy available under this scheme for establishment of Jute Park is 40% of the eligible cost for setting up common infrastructure in the Jute Park (excluding the cost of land), subject to a maximum of Rs.7.5 crores. For setting up Jute Parks in NE States the subsidy is 90%. Under the scheme, common infrastructure such as compound wall, electric power supply, roads, effluent treatment plant, water supply, sanitation, sewerage and drainage system etc. can be constructed.

For creating mass awareness regarding various schemes being implemented for promotion of jute and jute products and their impact on the target audience and the benefits accrued out of the schemes, the Minister added that the following publicity measures are taken by the National Jute Board:-

• Organising Awareness Workshops at different locations.
• Holding Interactive Sessions
• Organisation of Buyer-Seller Meets
• Holding Fashion Shows
• Distribution of promotional materials
• Setting up of Permanent Sales Outlets
• Promotion and sales of jute products through retail chains
• Institutional Advertisements in newspapers inviting offers.
• Dissemination of information through websites
• Promotional campaign through various media
• Press meets
