The Ministry of Culture (MINCULT) has organized a seminar on “Handicraft and Communitarian Development” to be held at Luanda on August 26-27.
The round table's main focus would be to draft a national strategy for development of the Angolan handicraft. The event aims to ensure the growth and development of the handicrafts sector.
The round table organized to study the Angolan handicrafts, would consider issues like the role and significance of the rural craft, providing training and assistance to artisans, trade and modernization.
The ministry expects to draw results which would help to augment the handicraft policy, and study its effect on the economy, its role in employment generation and lowering the poverty ratio, by reviving the conventional artistic forms and schools.
The event even looks forward to develop a policy to promote the craftsmen and their artistic work at local as well as international levels, and also to boost cultural tourism, alongside promoting cultural tourism
