Mitsui suspends operations of naphtha cracker

Japan based, Mitsui Chemicals has suspended operations of a naphtha cracker, with a production capacity of 553,000 tons of ethylene per annum.

According to a company official of Mitsui, whom fibre2fashion spoke to, “Operations at the Ichihara plant, which is located in Chiba prefecture had to be curtailed on Thursday due to a minor technical problem with equipment”.

The official further informed that, “It will take around 2 weeks of time to solve this problem and to restart operations again and apart from solving this problem they are not going to make any changes”.
