According to statistics from Shaoxing Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, from January to July this year, the Bureau totally issued 1481 “Origin of Export” certificates for shipment to the South American country, Chile.
The certificate amount totaled to US $54 million, up 40 percent, year on year and the main export products were textiles.
According to reports, 74 percent of Chile's tariff lines will immediately fall to zero, after a Free Trade Agreement is implemented. Import tariffs of other products on both sides will be reduced to zero in 5 years after the agreement is put in force.
Both sides will retain only 3 percent of tariff lines as exceptional products with existing tariffs unchanged. It is learnt that Chile's consumption pattern and level is similar to China, its consumer goods are mostly dependent on imports, in recently years.
Shaoxing's textile and clothing exports to Chile have shown a rapid growth, and with gradual reduction of tariff barriers by Chile, these figures are expected to shoot up in the near future.
