An anti-dumping investigation has been started by China in import of potato starch from the European Union which is the foremost countervailing investigation against the EU, as per the Ministry of Commerce.
This investigation had been requested by the Potato Starch Specialty Council under the China Starch Industry Association.
The probe followed EU's decision in December to extend tariffs by 15 months, on leather shoes from China and Vietnam.
This potato starch is used in textile, pharmaceuticals, food processing and animal feed. The Potato Starch Specialty Council had asked the Ministry, in March, to review anti-dumping duties as they did not reveal new situations, since the dumping rates of EU producers exceeded tariffs.
