Imports of polyester to dip & exports to hike

The polyester industry is expected to face steady adjustment in the second half of 2010. At present, polyester filament yarn industry still faces some problems in supply and demand and at the same time, the industry also faces threat of trade friction and protection.
The market conditions of the polyester filament industry in the third quarter will be stable amid adjustment; the fourth quarter is expected to base on further adjustment. Polyester production growth is expected to be about 10 percent and is expected to touch 23-24 million tons, of which polyester filament yarn output will be about 15.5 million tons.
Imports of polyester will continue to decline and imports are expected to be 300,000 tons, of which polyester filament are projected to reach 160,000 tons. Exports are expected to increase and will be in the vicinity of 1.4 million tons, of which, polyester filament exports are projected to be 900,000 tons.
The sales income of polyester industry will be in the region of 230 billion Yuan; industrial output value is forecast at 235 billion Yuan and industry profits of the industry will be 5.5 billion to 6 billion Yuan.
