Agion Technologies, a leader in customized solutions for the consumer, industrial and healthcare industries, today announced that United States Patent 7,754,625 has been issued to the company, recognizing the benefits of Agion's technologies for textiles. The patent acknowledges Agion's unique accomplishment in creating a solution for textiles that achieves improved wash durability and color stability with an industry-first, longer lasting “whiter white”.

This patent specifically protects Agion's unique odor control solution as a breakthrough in treating white and light-colored materials. Whereas alternative silver based technologies have been unable to achieve the combination of long-term color stability and wash durability, Agion's solution has actually been shown to improve whiteness visually, immediate upon manufacture and throughout multiple washings. Agion's technology has been proven to maintain efficacy and strong performance, all without affecting the drape or hand. The patent surrounds both visual and colorimetric achievement for superior initial and long-term color stability.

“Receiving this patent further validates how firmly we stand behind our textile technologies – they are unique from other solutions and offer real, tangible benefits to the manufacturers, retailers and apparel brands that incorporate them into their products,” stated Paul Ford, CEO of Agion Technologies. “Throughout long-term use and multiple washings, Agion's textile treatments actually make whites appear more brilliant, which is something that no other company using silver-based treatments has been able to realize.”

The patent was awarded to inventors Gene Hendriks, a senior development engineer at Agion, and CTO Jeffrey Trogolo, a founding member of the company who directs Agion's technology operations and product development.

Ford continued, “Innovation is important to Agion and, frankly, to each of the esteemed brands that partner with us to differentiate their own products from their competitors. We're pleased to add this to our long list of existing patents and will continue to enhance and expand our offerings in the textile industry and beyond.”

Agion's textile technologies can be incorporated into everything from sporting gear, active wear and undergarments, to footwear and a wide variety of uniforms. Additionally, the company also partners with brands in a variety of other industries, providing customized solutions for a diverse array of medical, consumer and industrial textiles.

Agion Technologies, located in Wakefield, Mass., is a leader in providing customized solutions that enhance the value of partners' products. Agion's technologies are based on silver and other naturally occurring elements and have been incorporated into a wide range of consumer, industrial and healthcare products, including cell phones, shoes, keyboards, water filters, medical catheters and ice machines. Agion's customers include many leading brands such as Dell, Motorola, Columbia, Adidas, PPG, Carrier and DuPont.
