Phu Tho Province's environmental police have traced Korean-owned, Pangrim Neotex Textile Company, as emitting unprocessed effluents in Viet Tri City's Red (Hong) River.

Provincial Police's Environmental Police Bureau head, Ngo Quy Trieu divulged that the company on an average emitted about 1,000 cu.m per day, unprocessed liquid effluents in the biggest river situated to the north of Vietnam.

He further stated that they have drawn a sample of the effluent so discharged by the company and have forwarded the same for testing by the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment, to determine as to what extent the company has infringed the laws.

Yoon Wou Suk, a company representative accepted the allegations for the wrong done by the company, Trieu said.

Last year itself, the company was penalized by the provincial People's Committee with a fine of VND23 million ($1,173), for infringement of the environmental laws.
