Lenzing was the first fiber producer to commission an independent and scientific product life cycle analysis. In a cooperation with the university of Utrecht Lenzing fibers were compared with polyester, polyamides and cotton. The conclusive results show that Lenzing's fiber production consumes up to ten times less water than cotton and does not take any land away from food production. Numerous other cooperation initiatives with environmental organizations prove Lenzing to be the key driver in this field.
