Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd announced a key change to its management team with the appointment of Mr Raj Manek as Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd. With immediate effect, he succeeds Ms Shammi Nagpal who's service agreement comes to an end at the end of 2010. Ms Nagpal held the positions of Managing Director, Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd and Regional Director, Asia Pacific, Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding Ltd.
Mr Manek is a seasoned exhibition industry executive, he has more than 17 years experience covering Asia and Europe including Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States. He began his career with P&O Exhibitions which owned London's Earls Court and Olympia exhibition venues. From 1995 to 1997, he was Finance Manager with Reed Exhibition Companies before joining the ITE Group Plc as Group Operation Finance Director from 1997 to 2001. Before joining Messe Frankfurt in 2009, Mr Manek was Chief Operating Officer for Expomedia Group Plc in India.
His expertise covers the whole exhibition organisation spectrum, from launching events in different markets and industry sectors to identifying, establishing and managing profitable business partnerships with other exhibition organisers and media partners, to creating, establishing and running exhibition and venue businesses in a number of countries.
Mr. Buurma, Managing Director of Messe Frankfurt Asia Holding Ltd and Director of Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd said: “Raj is the ideal person to lead Messe Frankfurt India. As Managing Director, he will give our Indian operation a new direction which will help us to fulfil the potential that exists in this exciting and challenging market. He has extensive operational experience and brings highly-developed strategic skills to his new role. Previously as the company's Asia Pacific Business Development Director, he successfully led business development in all markets, including India by identifying and managing acquisitions, joint ventures, license agreements, and management agreements.”
Mr Manek will report to Mr Stephan Buurma and join the Messe Frankfurt India board. Commenting on his new role, Mr. Manek said: “I look forward to working with my colleagues and board members to drive growth and to further capitalise on the many opportunities that lie ahead for Messe Frankfurt India.”
Messe Frankfurt Trade Fairs India Pvt Ltd employs 14 staff in its Mumbai office and as the dynamic face of Messe Frankfurt GmbH in India, its activities are twofold. It is the official representative for all Frankfurt fairs as well as the organiser of Techtextil India, Heimtextil India and Beautyworld India fairs in Mumbai.
