The four-day Amsterdam Horti Fair-2010 has contributed immensely towards the development of India's trade relations with Netherlands and this is expected to enhance India's coir production and processing.

VS Vijayaraghavan – the Coir Board Chairman has stated that, the participation of the Coir Board in the show is likely to promote India's export of coir and coir products to Netherlands. The export of coir garden articles and coir pith products to Netherlands are expected to rise.

The Coir Board has set up a canopy for exhibiting coir products, where seven coir product exporters of Tamil Nadu and Kerala have participated.

The Horti Fair has been attended by 35 countries from the entire globe and Amsterdam, where the fair has been organized, has emerged as one of the major markets for India's coir products.

Netherlands has been the biggest importer of coir pith. It has been the third biggest importer of coir products from India in 2009-10, which included tufted mats, coir fibre, handloom mats, coir yarn and geo-textiles.
