The government of Indonesia is starting an assessment inquiry into the imports of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) from countries like Thailand, Taiwan and South Korea. According to an official statement, the anti-dumping tariffs on imports were enforced on 23rd October, 2005 and the assessment was started as a result of the demand put forward by a local manufacturer of the product.

The inquiry has been planned in order to find out if the cessation of the presently enforced anti-dumping tariffs on imports would cause a continuance or re-emergence of dumping activity and harm to the local industry.

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) stated that those who have been affected by this assessment have been informed about the beginning of the inquiry. Other concerned parties are expected to take part in the assessment by putting forward their appeal in writing to the inquiring authority before 28th October.
