The members of Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) are currently on a strike against a firm which is owned by one of its associate's investment wing.
The South African Municipal Workers Union (SAMWU) has attacked the Southern African Clothing and Textile Municipal Workers Union (SACTWU) Investment Holdings over its firm Syntell.
Syntell has declined to discuss the issue of wages with SAMWU and has enforced a 5 percent hike in the wages of the workers.
The workers have failed to understand the reason behind the rigid attitude of the company. The situation has become even worse as the company is owned by a trade union investment wing.
Around 90 percent of the company's workforce has taken part in the strike in Cape Town. It is challenging to enter into deals with such companies which do not give due recognition to the union rights. Such circumstances could lead to conflict between the company and workers' unions.
