Chinese textile sector displays stability in Q3

Nov '10
According to the latest statistics, the performance of Chinese clothing and textile industry remained stable in the third quarter of this year. Among all the industrial sectors, textile industry maintained steady growth, of which, clothing manufacturing and chemical fiber industry tended to be stable, but displayed a slight downward trend.

In the third quarter of this year, China's textile industry index reached 101 points, up 1.1 points over the second quarter. The apparel industry index marked 99.1 points and chemical fiber industry index touched 100.3 points, 0.1 points over the second quarter.

Index analysis indicates that China's textile industry suffers a variety of pressures in present time. Global economy is under slow recovery, which increases recovery burden of textile and garment industry.

In China, with increased requirements of energy conservation and emission reduction in production process, textile raw material prices continue to increase, making the entire textile industry face more difficulties. In the current environment, it is predicted that industry index will drop in the current quarter.
