Finally, just before the start of the pilgrimage season which will commence within a short time, Saudi Arabia has concluded the task of preparing a SR20 million worth of traditional costume which would cover Kaaba, the most holy place in Mecca, which is the holiest shrine for Muslims from all over the world.

The black coloured silk will cover the whole cube-shaped building of Kaaba this week itself, as around two million Muslims from across the Gulf and other nations start reaching the holy place for their annual pilgrimage; Haj.

The costume, 85 metres in length is around 47 metres breadth wise and 14 metres high and has been prepared from pure silk and has a jellyfish embroidered on it, with writing which reads as, “O Living, O Self, O Merciful, O Most Merciful, Praise be to Allah.”

The whole dress is made up of five giant fabric pieces, each one of which would cover a facet of the Kaaba. A piece would even cover the entrance of the Kaaba and would serve as a curtain. The Kaaba is located in the centre of a mosque called the Masjid al-Haram.
