Taiwanese textile fair, a big hit

Organizers of a fair exhibiting eco-friendly textile items from Taiwan, recently stated that, the fair drew more buyers this year, as compared to the previous two years.

28 Taiwanese firms participated in the 33rd PanTextiles Osaka fair organized by the Taiwan Textile Federation in Japan, while over 600 buyers from across Japan visited the fair. The number of visitors grew by 30 percent higher as compared to those in 2009.

The buyers this year were believed to place orders worth US $8.5 million, which is almost double the orders placed last year when 18 companies from Taiwan participated in the fair, the organizer said.

According to the organizer, the success was mainly attributable to revival of the economy, and also to the expertise of Taiwanese textile firms in producing synthetic textile items with higher value.

This also is one of the reasons due to which the purchasing was not influenced by the escalating cotton prices, as textile producers comparatively used less cotton in their produces.

A number of participants at the fair stressed that, the products were manufactured through eco-friendly process.

Also that, Japan with its imports of around US $25 billion, is amongst the world's leading textile importers.
