Handicraft exports register hike of 8.91% in first quarter

There has been a rise in Nepal's handicraft exports during the initial three months of current financial year when it had recorded a growth of 8.91 percent to Rs 903.52 million against Rs 829.59 million worth of exports registered during the same period in the last fiscal.
A break up of the overall exports shows that Rs 465.53 million came from exports of textile products and exports of non-textile products contributed the remaining Rs 437.99 million.
While the non-textile products' export registered a growth of 27.91 percent for the period under consideration, exports of textile products fell by 4.4 percent.
The country exported Rs 487.17 million worth of textile products during the initial three months of last financial year.
Further, while the country's pashmina exports declined by 34.31 percent, its exports of silk items too decreased by 13.91 percent. Also, there has been a fall of 22.67 percent in its cotton exports, while hemp and allo product exports too dropped by 35.49 and 59.34 percent respectively. Meanwhile, country's other textile goods exports including Dhaka registered a robust growth of 333.78 percent.
