Azerbaijan has raised its cotton exports to almost double in October after it restarted the same in September. The country imposed a total ban on cotton exports in June 2010.
By October this year, Azerbaijan exported 2,224.4 tons of cotton valuing $2.498 million, which is 0.01 percent of the country's overall exports worth $17.365 billion. With this, the average export price of the country's exports for the initial 10 months of 2010 amounted to around $1,123.41 per ton.
The country during the month of October this year exported 273.9 tons of cotton valuing $196,300 at an average price of $716.68 per ton, as compared to October 2009's exports of 103.6 tons for $57,000 at an average price of $550.19 per ton.
Further, the country's cotton exports for 2009 stood at 17,371 tons valuing $17.358 million. The commodity exports for the month of December last year came to 795.9 tons for $890,900.
Cotton exports last year constituted 0.12 percent of the country's overall exports.
