The India International Trade Fair 2010, a 14 day-long trade event was recently held in the capital city of New Delhi.
Around 300 artisans and entrepreneurs from eight north-eastern states took part in the fair, which provided them a platform to exhibit their artwork and expertise.
Every single state was provided with a separate exhibition area where they could showcase their work. Each of these stalls depicted different themes. Some of the exhibitors dressed in their traditional clothes tried to promote the culture of their respective states.
Various handlooms, decorative products and several other craft items were showcased and traded during the fair.
Promotion of conventional handlooms remained the theme for several pavilions representing various states, displaying several handloom items with ethnic designs.
