Chinese polyester output magnifies in 2010

Chemical fiber production realized capacity growth in 2009, the market was active and benefits from the business were good. Synthetic fiber capacity reached 28.05 million tons in 2009, ahead of the production target deadline set in the "Eleventh Five-Year" plan.

From January-September 2010, production of the chemical fiber industry touched 22.36 million tons, of which polyester stood at 18.12 million tons. Its production is expected to reach about 24 million tons.

Overall production of polyester had reached 22.04 million tons in 2009, accounting for about 81 percent of 27.26 million tons of chemical fiber production in China, and about two-thirds of world polyester production. Of which, production of polyester staple fiber was 7.89 million tons, accounting for about 60 percent of world's production.

Output of polyester filament yarn was 14.15 million tons, accounting for about 70 percent of world's polyester filament production. China has become the largest and most influential producer in world's polyester industry chain.
