Sandler AG completes FSC, PEFC certifications

Sandler AG is one of the first nonwovens producers worldwide to have successfully completed the certification according to FSC and PEFC standards. Both certifications refer to the sustainable handling of wood and products made of it.

The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) was formed in 1992, in the wake of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development in Rio de Janeiro. The PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) was originally established in 1999 as a European forestry initiative.

Both organisations independently pursue the same goal: to preserve the natural resource wood in order to conserve our environment for future generations as well as to manage business in an ethical manner and to actively address social issues. These are also some of Sandler AG's main principles.

Both systems do not only certify wood but also products made of it, such as viscose fibres and the nonwovens that are produced of them. Both systems also perform certification along all tiers of the supply chain.

Sandler AG is now certified user of sustainably produced raw materials in the manufacture of its spunlaced nonwovens.

With these certifications, Sandler is one of the pioneers among nonwovens producers – not only because „green“ production is growing in importance as a selling point, but also because the responsible handling of resources has always been a part of the company philosophy and is constantly being implemented in product development as well as manufacturing.

This topic is also emphasized in Sandler AG's recently published CSR report. Through an integrated management system, environmental protection is put into practice on all levels.

Sandler's eco management system also comprises the determination of key figures and the establishment of central control parameters for all products as well as the for energy consumption, water and waste water, emissions, raw materials, consumables, and supplies as well as noise emission and land use.

Internal environmental groups meet regularly to discuss topics relevant to the environment and to plan ecology and sustainability projects, which can be implemented together with all of our employees.
