The July to November period of the current fiscal year has witnessed a rise in exports of all the finished textile goods, according to the provincial statistics.

Textile exports grew by 18.64 percent during the period and stood at $4.813 billion, up from the $4.056 billion worth of exports registered during the corresponding period last year.

Knitwear turned out to be the best performing textile export segment in terms of value and exported around $1.075 billion worth of goods to foreign countries, during the initial five months of the current financial year, thus registering a 24.28 percent growth over $865 million worth of exports during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the bedwear exports too rose to $795 million during the period under consideration as against $650 million worth of exports during the corresponding period last year, and thus registered a year-on-year rise of 22.31 percent.

However, readymade garment exports grew slightly from last year's $412 million to $414.5 million, this year. According to the industry sources, after experiencing the financial crisis during 2008 and 2009, now the world is on the path of recovery and this has boosted the demand for textile goods.

Cotton yarn exports too grew from last year's $443 million to $507 million during the concerned period, the statistics revealed.
