Textile exports grew by 18.64 percent during the period and stood at $4.813 billion, up from the $4.056 billion worth of exports registered during the corresponding period last year.

Knitwear turned out to be the best performing textile export segment in terms of value and exported around $1.075 billion worth of goods to foreign countries, during the initial five months of the current financial year, thus registering a 24.28 percent growth over $865 million worth of exports during the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the bedwear exports too rose to $795 million during the period under consideration as against $650 million worth of exports during the corresponding period last year, and thus registered a year-on-year rise of 22.31 percent.
