Naela Choan, present Ambassador of Pakistan to Argentina recently visited the Chief Executive Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), Tariq Iqbal Puri and discussed the issues relating to trade promotion mainly with regards to Argentina and South America at large.
The meeting focused on the potential of the region as an upcoming import market for textiles and other products. This could be realized with the help of various regional and mutual deals and programmes.
Significance of other smaller Argentinean markets like Uruguay, Ecuador and Peru was also highlighted by the Ambassador.
The decision to hold the Pakistan festival in Argentina, next year, was taken in the meeting. An entirely new collection of Pakistan-made items, particularly textiles would be displayed during the event for the first time. TDAP, in connection with the event, would send a high-potential trade delegation with top-most manufacturers and exporters as its members to Argentina, where they would get an opportunity to meet the domestic Argentinean producers and exporters and can also find out new ways of entering the new market. Pakistan, last year mainly exported products like synthetic textiles, surgical and medical items, artsilk and cotton cloth to Argentina.
The two delegates also pondered on a marketing plan for exploring the region and decided on developing a broad marketing plan as well as to send a high-potential trade delegation to Argentina, next year.
