The Union Textiles Minister is to lay the foundation stone of ''Texvalley,'' an integrated textile mall which would be established on a 15 lakh sq. feet plot near Erode in Tamil Nadu, with an investment of Rs 1.45 billion.
The textile mall, which is likely to be completed in 15 months, will serve as a source of direct employment for around 5,000 persons, and would indirectly employ another 10,000 workers.
The mall will house 1,720 shops, all of which will be equipped with latest facilities to help the traders in selling their handloom and powerloom products. It is also planned to have a warehouse spread on an area of two lakh sq. feet, which would be utilized to keep powerloom products.
Also, there would be a sales yard constructed on an area of more than one lakh sq. feet, where 3,000 traders could trade together.
