Pak delegation to attend fashion fair in Japan
Jan '11
Tariq Iqbal Puri, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), recently stated that, TDAP in association with JETRO and JICA is organizing a trade visit for a Pakistani delegation to attend an international fashion fair in Japan. The four-member team would leave Pakistan on January 23 to attend the three-day fair which is going to begin from January 26.

The official revealed this information while addressing a meeting of delegates in Lahore from Karachi via video conferencing. He further informed that, the intention underlying this visit would be to get an idea regarding the trends and market conditions prevailing in the Japanese textile industry.

The visit is believed to be a landmark in the efforts to penetrate into the Japanese markets, as Japan, which presently sources 85 percent of its textile products from China, is now even considering other countries for garment imports. Further, Puri recommended the delegation to get information on the customs duties, prevailing rates of textile items in the Japanese markets and also to carry out a comparative analysis of the countries that export textile products to Japan and are competing with Pakistan.
