Pakistan can grow 20 mn tons cotton – PM Gilani

Pakistani Prime Minister, Yousaf Raza Gilani recently said that, in order to realize the target of producing 20 million cotton bales this year, the sector needs to adopt the latest technology.

While conversing with a delegation of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association, he said that, if they could make it possible to attain the target of producing 20 million bales, then they could generate high foreign exchange and that they will not require any foreign loans, nor will there be any need to seek any monetary assistance or loans either from the World Bank, IMF or other institutions.

The premier also directed the concerned authorities on setting up a 'Ginning Research Institute' in Multan and even gave an assurance to the members of the delegation regarding early establishment of the same.
