A meeting of all Associations (TEA, SIHMA, DAT, TEKMA, KNITcMA, TIF, TEKPA, SIIMKA, CEO, The Knit Compactors Association and Tirupur Raising Association) was held (2.2.2011) in TEA Hall under the Chairmanship of Shri.A.Sakthivel, President, Tirupur Exporters' Association - TEA to discuss about the course of action to be taken to come out of the crisis arisen due to closure of dyeing units further to Hon'ble High Court Order on 28th January 2011.
Shri. A.Sakthivel initiated the discussion and after deliberation, the following decisions were taken in the meeting.
The joint committee informed that with good intension only, about Rs.1200 crore was spent to achieve zero liquid discharge but, unfortunately due to non-availability of technology, it was not possible to attain zero liquid discharge. Moreover, it was also verified throughout global and found that no technology is available to do the same. Therefore, zero liquid discharge is not possible.
It was decided to meet Tamil Nadu Government on 4th February 2011 and inform that units are ready to maintain 2100 tds (total dissolved salt) which is the minimum norm prescribed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
Central Pollution Control Board will also be invited for all the further proceedings.
Tamil Nadu Government will be requested to expedite for implementation of Marine Discharge Project, which is already in the process and 13th Finance Commission has allocated Rs.200 crore also.
A tripartite committee consisting of Industry, Farmers and Government officials will be formed and the envisaged committee will come to an agreement that till implementation of Marine Discharge Project, 2100 tds will be allowed.
The Government will be requested to file an affidavit in the court and request to permit to allow discharge of effluent with 2100 tds till Marine discharge project is implemented.
Tirupur Exporters' Association
